ASPIRA
of Pennsylvania was founded in 1969 by a group of concerned
leaders who believed that the most effective way to combat
the socio-economic ills that afflict the Puerto Rican community
is to educate our youth.
Mission
To empower the Puerto Rican and Latino
community through advocacy and the education and leadership
development of its youth.
The
ASPIRA Association promotes the empowerment of the Puerto
Rican and Latino community by developing and nurturing leadership,
intellectual and cultural potential of its youth so that
they may contribute their skills and dedication to the fullest
development of the Puerto Rican and Latino community everywhere.
Goals
Comprehensive
leadership development programs that will encourage Puerto
Rican and other Latino youth and parents to become aware
of the needs of the Puerto Rican and other minority communities,
fostering commitment to dedicate their leadership skills
towards the socio-economic, cultural and developmental needs
of our communities. Comprehensive educational programs to
motivate orient and assist youth toward their educational
and intellectual development.
Programs of advocacy to affect increased access to quality
leadership and educational development opportunities for
our youth and parents.
These
goals get accomplished through the ASPIRA Process, which
entails:

ASPIRA
is part of a national movement and has associate offices
located in Connecticut, Illinois, New Jersey, New York,
Pennsylvania, Florida, Puerto Rico and a national office
in Washington, D.C.
