Community Technology Center

About
There are over 80-networked computers at ASPIRA with internet access, staff and students have individual e-mail addresses and seven laptops are available for short-term use by students and parents. ASPIRA is currently implementing its MIS system which will allow ASPIRA to track service hours, counseling and group activities and provide impact data to be used for program evaluation purposes.

Purpose
As part of ASPIRA's commitment to keep up with the 21st Century and provide our students and community with access the latest technology, ASPIRA opened the Community Technology Center "CTC." This state of the art computer lab has 20 computers connected to the Internet via a dedicated T1 line. The center provides computer classes for students and parents and is open to the public.

Objectives
ASPIRA's CTC seeks to keep students and community members immersed in the latest technology, with the short term goals of exposing them to desktop computer technology, word processing, desktop publishing , Internet and other applications; and the long term goals of implementing a Cisco Academy and Audio-Visual Communications lab in our CTC.

ASPIRA Leadership Clubs
For the first time, this year's after-school leadership clubs will have the opportunity to create their own web pages to convey information about their officers, members and activities. Club officers/committees will be responsible for e-mailing information to the ASPIRA webmaster whenever club site updates are necessary. Over time, students will have access to their sites so that they can design, upload and update their sites independently of the webmaster.
